Murmur Privacy Policy

Murmur is a voice-first note capture application developed by Bit Monkey. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

What We Collect

When you use Murmur, we collect and store:

  • Voice recordings - Audio files you create are sent for transcription and then deleted from our servers. We do not retain your original audio.
  • Transcribed text - Text generated from your voice recordings
  • Notes and tags - Text notes you create and any tags you assign to organise them
  • Account information - Your username and encrypted password

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide the Murmur service:

  • Voice recordings are sent to a third-party transcription service and deleted immediately after transcription completes
  • Transcribed text and notes are stored so you can access them across your devices
  • We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising purposes
  • We do not use your data to train AI models

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party service:

  • Speech-to-text transcription - Your voice recordings are sent to a third-party transcription service to convert speech to text. This service processes your audio solely for transcription purposes and does not use your data for training AI models.

Data Storage and Security

  • Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union
  • Passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text
  • All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
  • Transcribed notes are stored until you delete them

Your Rights

You can:

  • Access your data - View all your notes within the app
  • Delete your data - Delete individual notes or request deletion of your entire account
  • Export your data - Contact us to request an export of your data

Data Retention

  • Notes are kept until you delete them
  • If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed

Children's Privacy

Murmur is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email.
